18 Months

Avery is 18 months old today!  Wiggity what??  So exciting!  She gets to go to nursery Sunday.  I seriously couldn't be more excited for that!  She is a very sweet girl and is learning new things every day.  It's fun to watch her grow up.  She uses 1-2 word phrases.  She has 10 teeth and I can see more getting ready to come in.  One of her favorite things to learn are animal noises.  She knows what a cow, snake, owl, bear, dog, duck, and pig says.  I might be missing one it's hard to remember them all.  Her favorite sound is the pig, if I ask her what an animal says and she doesn't know she'll oink at me.  She loves to read books and dance and make Louis and me laugh.  

Avery will randomly fold her arms and start saying a prayer and looks over at me to make sure my arms are folded too.  Once she's done she'll say amen and clap.    She loves to be outside so much and once she's out it can be difficult to get her back inside.  Sadly for her it's getting so stinkin' hot out there for me that we don't go outside very much.  Her favorite thing to do outside is play with her ball, she'll throw it and kick it around the grass.  She also loves to run through the sprinklers. 

She can take her shirt and pants off, she tries to take her diaper off sometimes, but hasn't succeeded yet thank goodness.  As for potty training (we haven't started or anything yet) she knows when she's poopy and doesn't like it, but doesn't care when she's just wet.  For now I'm just trying to familiarize her with the toilet and how to use it.  She is still a great sleeper!  She sleeps from 8:30 or 9:00 P.M. (although sometimes she is awake in her crib until 10:00-10:30 or later!  She's definitely a night owl) to 8:30 or 9:30 A.M.  Then she naps from about 1:00 to 3:30-4:00.  I love having that long break in the middle of the day, I either clean, start dinner, nap, do a project, or just relax.  Avery's very good about bedtime, all I say is "time for bed" and she grabs her blanket and goes over to the stairs to go up to bed!  Avery has always been such a great sleeper right from the beginning.  When she was born she would sleep 5 hours at a time at night so I'd only end up getting up once during the night and she was sleeping through the night somewhat consistently by 11 weeks.  

Avery has kind of become a picky eater.  Her favorite foods are grilled cheese, oatmeal, waffles, spaghetti, chicken, and potatoes.  Her favorite snacks are string cheese, goldfish crackers, and fruit snacks.  Her favorite thing to watch is Winnie the Pooh, Blues Clues, and Tangled.  She still loves Veggie tales, especially the silly songs, but we don't watch it very much anymore.  Whenever (well usually!) I take the camera out to get a picture she stops and says "cheese!" it is adorable!  She likes to hold my camera and pretend to take pictures saying "cheese" the whole time.  

Sorry this post was pretty random and jumped from thing to thing without really having order to it!  Hopefully you enjoyed these random facts about our sweet Avery!  She is such a happy little girl and pretty well behaved we are very blessed to have Avery in our lives!

Weekend Creations

So I have these fold-over yoga pants that I LOVE, they're amazing during pregnancy.  I wore them about 80% of the time with Avery and would have done the same with this baby if they hadn't gotten worn out.  I was in a lot of denial about them being worn out and needing to be thrown away.  I really didn't want to throw them away until I had found the perfect replacement for them either.  It was surprisingly hard to find a new pair.  Every pair of yoga pants I found seemed to have a thick piece of elastic in the waist.  That was no good for me, anything pushing on my stomach irritates me right now.  Finally a few weeks ago I found a new perfect pair!  At Shopko in the Junior's section.  Now that I think about it, I should have bought two pairs so I'd have one when these ones get worn out. . .oh well.  Sadly I got ready to say goodbye to my old, cute, perfect yoga pants, but then I got to thinking of what I could do to re-purpose them instead of just throwing them in the trash.  I found a tutorial (through pinterest of course) on how to make a knit baby hat.  It looked super simple so over the weekend I made two cute hats for my girls!  I think they turned out super cute and can't wait for my girls to wear them together!  I'll share pictures of the finished product and if you want to make one yourself click here for the tutorial.

P.S. Avery goes into nursery a week from today!!  Hallelujah!  Let's celebrate!!  She's going to love it, she's so social and loves other kids.

Guess What We're Having!!

Many of you probably already know what we're having, but for those of you who don't know yet!!  We're having a little girl!!!  

We are very excited to add another little girl to our family.  It's going to save us a lot of money since we won't have to buy any clothes.  I'm sure I'll end up buying some more anyway though because little girl clothes are just so dang cute!
I was seriously shocked when the technician said it was a girl.  I was 100% thinking and expecting a little boy.  I'm still trying to process it because in my head I've been calling this baby a he!  And to confess, I even bought a few little baby boy clothes!  So I'll save those or give them away!
The appointment went really well and everything is looking great.  Little baby was squirming around and the tech had a hard time getting some measurements.  Also babies face is right up next to the placenta so it we couldn't get a full on picture of her face.  Kinda sounds gross to me, why would she want her face next to that? I guess it's nice and cushy for her, better than my uterine wall.  Still yucky to me though.  Her little profile looks so cute already though!  We love her!!  Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy!  We tried getting some 3D ones of her face, but with her head being right by the placenta they didn't turn out well.

Old Wives Tales

I am getting seriously impatient while waiting to find out if we're having a little boy or girl.  I saw a little advertisement somewhere for a gender prediction quiz and decided to take it for fun.  It got me curious about these gender predicting old wives tales.  So I started looking them up!  There are some seriously odd and funny ones out there!  It was so fun reading through them.  Here are a few of the silliest ones:

• Toddler Advice-If a toddler boy shows interest in your belly, you'll have a girl.  If he ignores you, it's a boy.  Isn't that silly??
• Key to Pregnancy-If you pick up a key by the round end, you're having a boy.  If it's by the long end?  A girl.  This one is just odd, I'm curious to know the origin of this one and why. . .just why.  Think about the anatomy of male and females, don't you think the long end would mean a boy and the round end would mean a girl?  ;)
• Dream Meanings-If you dream about having a girl while pregnant, you will wind up having a boy and if you dream of a boy, you will be having a girl!
• Eat Garlic- Guess the baby's sex by eating garlic.  If the smell seeps out of your pores it's a boy.  If there's no scent it's a little girl.  Who wants to smell their sweat??
• Model Your Hands-If someone asks you to show them your hands and you show them palm up you're having a girl, palm down it's a boy!  This one is silly.  If someone asks to see my hands I always always always (pregnant or not) show them palm up!  

I decided to post a few more and tell you my answers to them.  When I write them out, I will put the girl predictions in pink and the boy predictions in blue. . .does that make sense?  It doesn't to me reading it, but I can't think of how to word it.  You'll get it though, read on!  Everyone who reads this PLEASE comment on if you think I am having a little boy or a little girl!  P.S. I got most of these off of parents website, here.  Now let's go!

• First one!  I'm sure a lot of you have heard this one.  Is baby's heartbeat above or below 150?  At my last appointment it was at 154 so right on the fence!
• Did you have severe morning sickness?  Yes or no?  I don't know about severe, but yes I had morning sickness for 9 weeks, and I still feel a little nauseous every now and then.  As long as I remember to eat I'm okay.  
• Do you crave sweet or salty foods?  Sweets, sweets sweets sweets sweets sweets!  Skip the meal and bring on dessert!  It's been crazy, I didn't want sweets at all with Avery.
• Is your skin soft or dry?  It's a little more dry than usual.
• Do you sleep on your right or left?  Always on my right.
• Do you have more headaches?  Yes or no?  Yes, not horrible headaches though.
• Are you carrying high or low?  In my opinion, low.  This baby is on my bladder all of the time, I can't even tell you how many times I use the bathroom in a day.
• Is your skin breaking out? Yes or no?  Yes, but thankfully, not as bad as when I was pregnant with Avery.  Thank you!
• Are you graceful or clumsy?  I haven't had any trips or spills yet!
• Danging a chain with a charm over your palm does it swing in a circle or back and forth?  It dangled back and forth.  Apparently though Louis learned in sixth grade that you can make it go whichever way you want and even change from one to the other.  Something to do with nerve endings in your fingers. . .whatever though, it went back and forth when I did it!
• Is your right breast bigger or your left?  Wouldn't you like to know!  This was just another silly one I wanted to share!

Now, armed with this information go ahead and make your guess to what I will be having!  Will it be a little girl or a little boy!  

We find out on the 15th, one week from today!  Woohoo!

Semester Break

Louis got about 5 days in between Spring and Summer semester this year.  That's including the weekend.  The only reason he even got that time was because his finals were on Monday and Tuesday.  Crazy, they get no break at all!  He will have a 5 week break in between Summer and Fall so it makes up for it a little bit.  Most of you know I get VERY little time with Louis.  On a good day (not including weekends when he doesn't work or have school) we have about 3 hours together.  That's it.  Over the Summer and Fall it's going to be even worse.  I'll be lucky to get 1 hour with him a day.  After the Fall though he will be done!  We don't know if he's going to go back right away for his Masters or take a break.  This has pretty much been the norm for us since we got married.  Most of the time I'm used to it and it doesn't bother me, but it's starting to get harder.  I can't wait until he is done with school!  (and neither can he)  We did some fun, low-key, relaxing things over his short break.  On Wednesday we walked up and down main street looking in the shops.  We stopped in at the Book Table because I had been given a gift certificate for my birthday.  I had never been upstairs where all the kid toys are and I probably shouldn't have gone up.  I could have spent hours looking at all of the stuff they have up there.  Louis really hates shopping and being in stores, but he was very nice and never complained.  On our way back to the car we stopped at Great Harvest and I got a scone and we each got a slice of bread.  That was our outing for the day after that we just relaxed.

On Thursday we had a factory day!  Does that sound funny?  It kind of is.  We have a lot of factories in Cache County.  We visited 3 of them that have outlets where you can buy discounted stuff.  Our first stop was the Lower factory.  They sell meat!  They also happened to be having a buy one get one free sale.  So we bought some sliced chicken and turkey.  Louis really wanted to buy a gift card for Megan's graduation present.  (she's a vegetarian) I talked him out of it.  He still thought it would be hilarious.  I didn't think Megan would feel the same!  We then headed to the Pepperidge Farm factory.  It is the only place I will buy goldfish!  They are sooo much cheaper there!  Avery loves goldfish crackers and she knew exactly what was in the bags.  Luckily they had samples for her.  After Pepperidge Farm we went to the Creamy factory! I didn't know there was one in Cache County, but Louis had seen it driving home from work the week before.  They had individual creamies for sale, 19 cents each.  We bought 50, yeah a little excessive, but when we originally went up with 25 they told us they can't accept debit cards for purchases under $5 and we didn't have any cash!  So we got 25 more and took them to Megan's graduation celebration the next day.  Friday we went up to Utah State and got Louis' books for the semester then went over to watch Megan graduate!  We didn't stay for the whole thing because Josh needed someone to go pick up the cake for the celebrations afterward.  Louis went and dropped Avery and me off so she could take a little nap and then went to get the cake and help set up.  Then when everyone arrived he came and got us.  It was fun to be with family.  As it always is.  We just ate and talked and had fun.  Here is the only picture I got from the day.  Grandpa Grandpa with all of his grand kids.  P.S. Saturday we didn't really do anything.  Louis got a hair cut, we found out the battery on our old 1992 Honda Accord is completely dead.  We want to just get rid of the car, but somehow get some money out of it.  Does anyone know how we can accomplish that?  Any kind of Cash for Clunkers going on?  We also stopped at Sam's Club and bought some diapers/wipes and had lunch.  The rest of the day we just relaxed at home finishing the night off with some chips and salsa and Horchata (in honor of Cinco De Mayo) and watching the newest Mission Impossible.  Interesting fact about the Horchata we made.  We got this mix from Walmart probably over a year ago.  We bought it because it's the same mix they use at Cafe Sabor.  We asked one time we ate there and they told us that's what they use.  Surprisingly it makes really good Horchata!

That was our weekend, very relaxing!  Just what Louis wanted.  Now he's one day into the semester and it's already no fun.  One of his teachers is going to try to squeeze 4 months worth of material into 4 weeks and another is assigning a group project that usually takes 4 months into the 4 weeks!  This should be fun.  The first thing Louis said to me when he got home was:  "I don't think I'm going to see you at all this semester."  I had already figured that.  Good luck to us!
