Bike With Brent

If you live in Logan than I'm sure you know of Brent.  If you didn't know his name I'm still sure you've seen him before.  Brent is a man here in Cache Valley that is almost always biking around somewhere.  He honks his horn and waves at everyone as they pass.  He'll ride along with parades and when the cars from the Cache Valley Cruise In drive down main street he'll bike along beside them honking and waving.  He also has a backpack with a bunch of awesome key chains on it!

Today was the 2nd annual "Bike with Brent" event.  At this event you can bike, walk, jog, or run a 1.4 mile loop with Brent.  All proceeds go towards scholarships for those with disabilities.  I had heard about it on the radio, but didn't know when it was.  Yesterday my friend Holly posted on facebook that she was going to bike it and was wondering if anyone wanted to come along. I wanted to do it, but I don't have a bike.  I also have never biked pregnant, I don't know how that would be?  I was willing to walk though, and they said strollers are welcome!  I didn't want to walk alone so I started asking around to see who wanted to come with me!  Kamila and Kaileb ended up joining Avery and me this morning.  It was a very nice morning to be out, it was slightly overcast and not too hot.   May I just say that Brent is one fast biker!  He lapped us before we were even half way through, and he started out at the end of the biking group.  Once we were down we stuck around for a while they had some small refreshments and drinks and there was an awesome playground.  By this point it was no longer cloudy and it was so hot!  I pushed Avery on the swing for awhile then I handed her off to Kamila and Kaileb and Holly and I went to sit in the shade!  I love my family they are so good to always help out!  We had a great morning and enjoyed being outside and supporting a good cause.

Thanks Kami for taking this beautiful picture

24 weeks

I am 24 weeks today!  This puts me into the second week of my sixth month.  Wow!  The weeks really seem to be passing by a lot faster than they did last time.  Which I love!  I am so excited for when this baby comes!  I think I'm more excited about this baby coming than I was about Avery.  That is because I know how awesome it really is to be a mom and because I'm so excited to see Avery and her little sister become friends and play together.  The excitement about this baby coming has been heightened by the birth of our newest nephew!  Jon and Alisha had their baby boy, Isaac Jonathan Pugmire Monday night at 11:30!  He is very cute and fun to cuddle!  So seeing a newborn made the excitement even more exciting!
I'm growing bigger and bigger every day it seems like!  I am so much bigger than I was with Avery.  I'm going to be pretty big by the time this baby comes.  I don't have any new stretch marks yet.  Although last time I had some that I just couldn't see under my big belly!  I don't mind stretch marks though they fade really quickly.  I'm still sleeping fairly well, as long as I am surrounded by pillows.  I need one for my head one for my back, one for under my tummy, and one in between my legs.  Yep, I'm a little high maintenance in the sleeping department right now. I don't wake up having to use the bathroom which is a miracle since yesterday I literally had to go to the bathroom three times in just half an hour!  This baby is seriously a lot lower than Avery was, she's always on my bladder!  I feel her move everyday and Louis felt her move about 3 weeks ago, my placenta is in the front so I only feel her down low in my belly and on the sides.  I can still reach my toes to paint them, but it's getting harder.  I have to sit up for air every now and then.  I'm still craving sweets all of the time, which is totally opposite from when I was pregnant with Avery.  Heart burn sucks!  It's gotten worse, but it's still bearable.  My back pain has surprisingly gotten better though, so that's something to celebrate.
Okay enough about me, let's talk about the baby!  According to the e-mail I got today baby girl is just over a pound and is almost a foot long!  She is now gaining about 6 ounces a week from accumulating fat, and growing organs, bones, and muscles.  My baby might have hair on her little head at this point, (and if the old wives tale that says if you have heart burn that means your baby will have hair, then she does!) but it's white right now because there is no pigment in that hair yet!  I thought that was a cool, interesting fact.

Here are some pictures from this week!

See, I'm big!  Here is a side by side picture of me from when I was pregnant with Avery and this pregnancy.

The one on the left is from when I was pregnant with Avery and I am 27 weeks and the one on the right is from this pregnancy (obviously!  Seeing as it's the same picture from above) and I'm 24 weeks.  In my opinion I look a little bigger in the right picture.  Oh the amazing thing the human body is!

Our Week

I often get lost in our weekly routine.  We basically do the same thing every day, which is fine.  We have done a few fun, not every day things this week though.  We went to the park on Tuesday.  There's a little one right across the street from our apartment.  It's not so great for little kiddos.  There's not even any swings.  There is one little slide though that she can go down over and over.

She also had fun running around and finding pine cones then bringing them to me.

We also chased a bird around.  Avery loves birds.

Right when we were leaving I heard this noise.  I looked up and above our apartments I could see I geyser of water shooting up in the distance.  It looked like it was only about a block away.

Obviously I had to go snoop around and see what was going on.  So I went and got the stroller and we set out to investigate.  It was only a block away and I stopped to ask the cop what was going on.  He said a water mane had burst and it was shooting through the road.  He said it looked pretty cool and I could walk by.  So I did!  There were a bunch of people out there looking and taking picture and even videos.  Avery thought it was really exciting, she LOVES water so much!!  The water was spraying right at the townhouses on that street.  I heard that two of their basements flooded.  I felt bad.  They have now gotten everything fixed.

We went to the park again on Thursday.  This time we went to Bridger Park and it is much bigger and much more little kid friendly park.  They have swings, and a separate play ground for little kids.  Avery was all about the swings this time.  She only went down the slide twice and we spent 15-20 minutes on the swing.  When I went to take Avery out so we could leave she was clinging onto the swing not letting me take her out.  I got her out and she cried for a few minutes before finally settling down!  She REALLY loves the swings!

Today we went to Willow Park Zoo here in Logan.  We went with my friend Holly and it was enjoyable!  I should have taken my camera out to get some pictures and videos of Avery.  I think Avery's favorite animal was the monkeys!  She was doing her monkey noise "Ooo ooo ooo" even after we left the monkeys!  It was fun watching the monkeys, one of them was determined to get this blue thing that was on the other side of the fence.  He got a twig and stuck it through the fence to drag it closer and then finally stuck his hands through and could grab it.  Then he tasted it and discovered it wasn't food and was yucky so he dropped it and moved on to other things.  It was fun to see him so determined and work so hard to get to it!  Should have taken a video of it and of Avery making her monkey noises.
I had brought some bread so when we got to the ducks we were able to throw them some bread.  At first Avery was just eating her bread, but then she got what was going on and she loved breaking some bread off and throwing it over the fence to the duckies!  This was another time when I should have taken some pictures or a video of her!  On our way through the rest of the zoo there was a little robin in front of us leading the way.  It was so cute!  It would hop a few feet then stop and look into the fence with the animals. Then it would continue to hop along.  It was the only thing I took a picture of.

It's always nice to get out of the house even though it's getting freaking hot out there!  I have a feeling I'm going to hate the outdoors this Summer.  I need to invest in a little fan I can wear around my neck haha!  It's been a good week and Avery is picking up on things like crazy.  It's very fun to watch her learn new things each day.  I'm grateful I get to stay home with her.

We Got a Calling

Louis and I have been in our ward for over a year now and we just got our first calling.  I got a call last week asking if we could meet with someone in the Bishopric Sunday after church.  I knew we were getting a calling, it's pretty obvious isn't it?  I kept thinking we were going to be called into nursery.  It just kept coming into my mind over and over.  I was right, we got called to be nursery workers.  I'm going to be quite blunt.  I did not want to get called into nursery.  At all.  For those of you who don't know, I'm 5+ months pregnant, there will be a little newborn hanging around us in less than 4 months.  I'm not one to shelter and isolate my children, I think they need to be around some germs to be able to build up their immune system.  Taking my newborn into a room full of toddlers though. . .not going to happen.  Especially since she's going to be so little right when it's starting to get cold.  Also for those of you who have been pregnant you know it gets hard to bend over after awhile.  I'm starting to get to that point.  It's not that this baby is up in my ribs yet.  I can still bend over.  I just get really winded when I do.  It's hard to breath.  Just yesterday I was sitting on the couch folding laundry and just from bending over to get the clothes out of the hamper.  Whoosh!  It was hard!  So playing with a bunch of kids is going to be tough dudes!  One last thing, sorry I need to get this out for myself.  We just got to put Avery in nursery!  I was SO looking forward to being able to go to class and LISTEN and LEARN.  To actually be able to focus on the spirit and not on keeping Avery happy.  Grrr!  I'm sure it'll be fine, I've been instructed never to say no to a calling because I will learn something from each calling I receive.  I try to remember that.  Sigh.  Okay I'm done.  Sorry.  Louis has been in nursery before and he loved it so he's looking forward to it.  Playing with toys, snack time, coloring, and bubbles!  What's not to love!  They said they're going to release me (I don't know about Louis) before I have the baby.  Living in Logan and close to the University there is A LOT of change over in the summer time with the semesters ending.  So we have had a lot of people move out in the last month and we will have a lot of people move in to the ward in August. So basically I'm in this calling for the Summer haha!  I totally understand the need for that in this ward.  So here's to nursery!  I sure it will go well.
